Doug Zilkie - Haida Style Carver
Doug Zilkie is a renowned Northwest Coast carver who has been carving in the Haida style since he was 16. Over the past years, Doug has developed his own personal style which has become distinctly recognizable and his reputation has grown, along with this a greater demand for his work.
In the early 1990's he developed a successful working relationship with world-renowned artist Bill Reid, helping him create the “Spirit of Haida Gwaii”, which is now displayed in the Vancouver International Airport and the Canadian Embassy in Washington, D.C.
More recently, Doug has been commissioned by the Douglas Reynolds Gallery to create a 30’ totem pole for internationally renowned artist Damien Hirst for his art collection and a 35’ totem pole for the Terry White family to be displayed at their private home in Mississippi.
Doug accepts commissions from both companies and individuals. If you are interested in talking to Doug about his work or inquiring about a project, please Contact Doug.
